4/4 Digital Photography connection to children/education

  1.  Photography is great for teaching children about composition, keeping in mind the rule of thirds. It provides a tool for thinking about composition by observing the world around us with a pre-made canvas. This can be translated into drawing, painting, sculpting, collage, installation, and printmaking.
  2. Children see photographic images in their history books, science textbooks, newspaper articles,  and math materials. Photos help explain concepts and give concrete examples. They are especially helpful for the visual learner.
  3. Photography is a very accessible medium for children of all ages because almost every child can get their hands on a phone or parent's camera. This accessibility allows all children to participate in art making without having to spend a lot of money on materials or worry about learning the principles of art in depth. It's relatively easy to create an image.
